Scott Pool Wins An EMMY!

Scott W. Pool Holding Emmy Award

On April 28th, in New York City's Lincoln Center, Scott W. Pool became the first Golf Course Architect ever to receive an Emmy. At the gala 29th annual National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Sports Emmy Awards, Pool, President of GreenScan 3D, received The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award for his role in the delivery of the AimPoint Putting Solution. This technology is used for many PGA and LPGA broadcasts on The Golf Channel.

For accurate putt prediction, Aimpoint’s physics engine… developed by Mark Sweeney of AimPoint Golf… requires the utmost accuracy in putting surface data. To deliver the required precision, Pool utilizes a "Leica HDS Scanstation", the most advanced survey instrument available, digitally capturing every nuance of the green's surface. This data is then processed into a computer model for Aimpoint.

Scanner On Lift

Put simply, GreenScan 3D is the most accurate method available for restoring, replicating, preserving and archiving golf greens.  From a desire to return your greens to exactly the state your members cherish… to historic preservation… to storm damage insurance… there are many reasons for considering this revolutionary technology when it's time to rebuild your greens.  Traditional methods for surveying and rebuilding greens can't compete with GreenScan 3D for accuracy.  And when you consider that green restoration using GreenScan 3D is cost-competitive with traditional methods, it makes good sense to find out everything you can about this exclusive service from Scott W. Pool Golf Course Design.

Using sophisticated LIDAR technology to precisely capture every detail of your greens, we process the immense amount of data gathered and deliver it to you in a number of useful ways.  For rebuilding, we'll provide Digital Terrain Models that can be imported into a Robotic Total Station, allowing a contractor to exactly duplicate the green as scanned.  As-Built Contour Maps are another tool we can provide your contractor, and superintendents find our Slope Analysis Maps to be very useful in identifying and defining optimum pin locations.
